Brackenbury Village, W6

This little ‘village’ – entirely a creation of estate agents - is tucked away behind Hammersmith and Shepherd’s Bush, south of Goldhawk Road, and consists of mainly Victorian and Edwardian houses, some very large and many still whole; that is, very few converted into flats.

The Brackenbury area is generally considered to include the area around and including Goldhawk Road, Paddenswick Road, Dalling Road South and Glenthorne Road, Tabor Road Brackenbury Road,  Agate Road , Bradmore Park Road,  Cardross Street,  Carthew Road,  Nasmyth Street,  Wingate Road,  Atwood Road,  Perrers Road and  Aldensley Road.

Because it is quiet and secluded, properties tend to be expensive and highly desirable – with larger houses fetching £1,200,000 - £1,800,000. This is predominantly a residential area. It’s proximity to schools including Bute House Preparatory School, Flora Gardens Primary School and Ravenscourt Park Preparatory School make it popular with families. Many of the houses have large gardens and Ravenscourt Park, off Paddenswick Road adds to the area’s family friendly credentials.

The park has a large open space with tennis courts, an astroturf multi-use pitch, basketball court, bowling green and an excellent café popular with families along with numerous children’s play facilities. There’s also an attractive walled Rose Garden.

So far as shopping and eating goes, don’t expect haute cuisine or haute couture. Instead, there are many ethnic restaurants and ethnic food outlets on the Goldhawk Road, an area which has become recently fashionable among the youngish arty, theatre set. Brackenbury is not busy or bustling - another reason it’s highly popular with young families.

Perhaps the best-known restaurant in the area is the Brackenbury, popular with locals as well as BBC staffers. Gastropubs include the Anglesea Arms in Wingate Road, the Dartmouth Castle in Glenthorne Road and the Carpenter’s Arms in Black Lion Gate.

Along the Goldhawk Road, our sales and lettings teams recommendations include the Bush Bar and Grill, the long-established Blah Blah Blah vegetarian restaurant, and the Sagar Indian Restaurant.

Luvvies are well catered for with the exciting and innovative Lyric Hammersmith Theatre in King Street.

The Majestic Wine Warehouse on the Goldhawk Road is – well- majestic with a fabulous selection of wines and genuinely helpful staff plus a delivery service.
