Hurlingham Estate, SW6
This is an exclusive area of Fulham which borders on the famous Hurlingham Club and includes streets such as Hurlingham Road, Broomhouse Road, Napier Way, Sullivan Court, Foskett Road and Ranleagh Gardens.
It is absolutely ideal for anybody who hankers after membership of the Hurlingham Club – waiting list currently 15 years – or who simply wants to be near this expensive celebrity hangout with its polo, tennis and other upmarket sports on offer across it’s 42 acres.
A slightly staid area, the Hurlingham Estate suits the more settled, perhaps not so young professional, families and couples in their 30s and 40s. It is not really a young area but has some lovely properties, including substantial six-bedroom houses and fabulously appointed apartment blocks – Rivermead Court, a gated development with on site parking and porter being of particular note. The River Thames flows at the bottom end of the Hurlingham Club and some properties have river views or border onto the river. The new French Lycee on Clancarty Road attracts an increasing number of expatriate French families to the area.
In fact, the main attraction of this location would probably be the proximity of the river.
There are no shops on the Estate but Putney High Street, the New King’s Road and Fulham Road, are all nearby.
The Hurlingham is reportedly one of the best gastro-pubs in London.
