Artesian Village - Westbourne Grove W2
"Artesian Village" is an area, entirely the creation of estate agents, located just north of Westbourne Grove. It encompasses a grid of streets off Artesian Road, W2, including (from west to east); Courtnell Street, Moorhouse Road, Sutherland Street and Northumberland Place. It's boundaries are generally considered as Talbot Road, W2 to the north, Chepstow Road to the east and Ledbury Road to the west.
Local residents are a mixture of a genteel "old guard", a sprinkling of media types and a strong City contingent. The authoress Lady Rachel Billington is a notable local resident.
The area has the feel of a genteel leafy suburb (which is after all what is once was - albeit a century ago). It still retains an air of gentilty unique to Bayswater. Yet the bustle of Queensway and Portobello, the cafe culture of Kensington Park Road and Westbourne Grove boutiques are all at hand. There are also some notable restaurants in the area (many good for celeb spotting) - not least of all the excellent "Ledbury" at 127 Ledbury Road W11.
The area is charecterised by it's medium sized period houses, most with basements. Some have been converted into flats and maisonettes whilst others remain as family houses, often with a kitchen /dining room in the basement, some with attractive conservatories extending into the garden. Properties here generally have manageably sized back (as well as front) gardens - making them ideal for small families and highly prized among corporate tenants.
Smaller flats for sale and to rent in Artesian Village are also occasionally available - larger flats here tend to be duplexes or maisonettes.
There's a plethora of local shops along Westbourne Grove and Queensway. Local transport is excellent too. Westbourne Park offers city access via the Hammersmith & City line as well as to Paddington mainline and the Heathrow Express. A stroll south along tree-lined Pembridge Villas takes you to Notting Hill Gate too.
Transport

Mainline Station: Paddington mainline train station and the Paddington Express is two stops away - or a brisk walk along Westbourne Grove and Bishops Bridge Road
